PAX DEI EVERYTHING KNOWN MAIN POST (Big Recent Updates)
Update from Amrun on the Lore of Pax Dei, and also the area players will explore in the Alpha.
The main region we will start with during the Alpha is called Gallia, and it is divided into several heartland provinces, such as Merrie and Kerys, among others. But what YOU as a player will be naming is what you make. Farms, villages, towns, outposts, castles, or even lands consolidated under larger player alliances.

Developer run wiki? Amrun would rather see the players run those sort of things.
I would prefer to see player communities run wikis or other websites where they spoil items, piece together lore and mysteries, publish maps, list all sorts of recipes etc. This will become your world and you will no doubt know parts of it it better than we.

Further clarification on storage settings by Amrun. Players can allow their clan, specific players, or everyone to view their storage.
You can share permissions on containers with other players, your Clan or simply set them to public.

Amrun furthers comments on PLEX:
As I said, it depends on how the game economy is. For most games it would not work, but in a game where there are no NPC vendors and the whole economy is entirely player driven and the only thing you can do with Plex is to destroy it to pay a monthly fee; The only thing bringing in Plex does is to stimulate the market and allowing those who play a lot to produce and sell more of the things they make or harvest. And in a game like that… is it really worth it to invite a situation where all the most lucrative spots in the game are perma-camped by gold farmers? What would be gained? It is actually a win/win for everyone who play the game. Both those who have more time than money , and those who have more money than time to spend. Except of course gold farmers who want to make it their business to squeeze out regular players, corner markets and absolutely hate the idea of Plex.
That would be true… IF you were buying skills or abilities or anything else that people spend time getting in the game. Buying some equipment, equipment that degenerates and goes away too.. it is a whole other thing. If you think that is terrible, then it must be just as terrible to give a new Clan member some items so he has an easier time catching up. Is that just as awful in your mind? Should all items be no-drop to prevent something like that?

Groke comments on building the game for change and expansion.
We’re building the game for change and expansion. Instead of doing very rigid systems, we aim to create systems that are modular and expandable so we won’t be locked to decisions and designs done early.
Doing it this way takes more time in most cases. It’s usually faster to do very explicit implementation and features that just do that one thing but especially in a game this big and complex, doing modular and scaling systems that “communicate” and work nicely together takes a lot of consideration and time.
But this also gives later the flexibility to change pretty much anything in the game.
Can’t confirm anything but we have discussed about potential map changes and how the world could evolve over time but first we need to create that world and that’s already quite a lot of work.

Groke comments on inventory. No item Tetris like in ARPGs.
There won’t be item tetris but there are certain details about the inventory we’re not ready to share yet.

Spire comments on what “Opt-In” PVP Means.
And of note here, opt in doesn’t necessarily always mean “set a flag in some UI for your character”
Spire
Spire comments on PVP not only being Zone Based.
That’s not the only other option either!

Spire comments that not all places will have an in-game map.
Oh boy we have something for you. I think it’s safe to reveal not all places will have a map provided by the game.

Spire comments on players building roads in the game
Road building: we really want to do it, but it’s amazingly hard to do for the huge world & high player count we’re making at the visual fidelity you’ve seen, so the feature does not exist right now. Really hoping this will one day be real, as me and many others in the team love that kind of infrastructure building in games.
Spire
Spire comments on the role of the developer made roads in the game
The current roads we’ve shown are pre-made into the world and can be followed to find… places.

Spire comments on proximity chat
Prox chat that’s automatically open to all is ultra prone to abuse, sadly

Strepitu Comments on the Ambient Audio System that changes based on the environment.
the ambient audio system will have lots of changes depending on specifically where you are, what is around you and the potential of it trying to kill you – same with lots of other information about potential resources and similar.
We already have a setup which detect where you are, ground you are standing on, amount of rain, fog, clouds, amount of light, birds, trees, amount of bugs in the air, dangers, height of terrain, type of terrain nearby, time of day and much more. Obviously still in progress, but it’s meant to be pretty much fully granular and be able to automatically track the current environment and adapt to it – so plant trees and it should automatically track and add a more Forresty ambience or similar for other things.

Taika comments that players will not be able to create their own spells
That looks really cool however there are no plans for such a game mechanic as of yet
Taika
Taika comments that the inventory is slot based
The inventory backpack fill is based on the amount of inventory slots filled

I don’t even know how many times, I have to answer to this question. I didn’t even ask if PLEX like thing is considered for PD. I am a developer, I don’t really care or involved in business or monetization side of things. PLEX in EVE ONLINE, IMO is not a P2W because I don’t really care what kind of ship you are flying or how rich are you, I only knew a handful of players that I wont engage on eve 1v1. Chrono was implemented Eve long after I quit the game, but yeah I myself consider Chrono as a P2W. Because 1 days old character should not be able to fly anything other than a frigate

Taika comments on how connecting plots benefits players. Rounded plots get the corners filled in to give more space.
I guess I can say that is how it works at the moment, you have a round plot, but when connecting it with another player it fills out the corners of the connection and in that way you have more real estate together
